Greetings from Myanmar

Umbrella drinks and genocide. More than 24.000 Rohingyas have been killed. Over 900.000 Rohingyas have fled their homes. Rapes and beatings are unaccounted for. Myanmar’s sivil leader Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She is calling it an «internal conflict».

We Were Kings (Burma's Lost Royals)

In 1885 the British army invaded Burma and deposed its King. He died in exile, ending a thousand years of monarchy. The royal family vanished, and the country was plunged into war and the longest military dictatorship of modern times. But after a century of silence they are back, and they're on a journey to bring the family - past and present - back together. Filmed through three years of seismic change in Burma, this is the story of a family and a country emerging from the darkness.

Burma War Record

This film records the Japanese military's efforts to capture the Burma Road,one of the major supply lines to China, from the British beginning in December 1941. The film ends with the fall of Mandalay in May 1942.

Ta'ang

The Ta'ang or Palaung people, an ethnic minority living in the mountainous area between Myanmar's Kokang region and China's Yunnan province, have historically suffered many forced migrations due to war. When their survival is threatened again in 2015, thousands of them flee across the border. Filmmaker Wang Bing accompanies them and becomes a privileged witness to a human story that is both a modern reportage and a mythical epic.

Sasang: The Town on Sand

This is a film about workers, a film about the poor who were dragged out of homes and about his father. Director Park films his father who has lived as a laborer all his life, his weakened body, and nine years of time flowing over it. Park brings an impartial view of his father’s life. His father does not try to impart a particular value in front of the camera. What remains is to wonder where this cruel reality comes from.

Giants Even If We Die

The Lotte Giants is a huge part of Korean professional baseball's history. 30 years have passed since their last win in 1992. Now, they are tired of self-dissing mixed with resentment against the club and players. But, why can't they leave even though they know? Why won't the 'Talde effect' work? Now here, nevertheless, with fans moving to Sajik Baseball Stadium, the 40-year history of the Giants unfolds centered on former and current Lotte Giants players.

Still and All

Still and All is a story about the souls living beneath the Yeongdo Bridge in Busan. Yeongdo and its bridge offer a historical space with lingering traces from the Japanese colonial era to the Korean War. The people under Yeongdo Bridge, reconstructed in 2013 after 47 years, are driven to move when the vicinity around it is designated a Special Tourist Zone.

Eternal Brightness

Oh Minwook’s Eternal Brightness, adapted from Jo Gapsang’s novel Eye of the Night, narrates the past and the present lives of the characters who have lived through the contemporary history of Korea, from the Korean War in the 1950s to the Busan-Masan Democratic Protests calling for the Park Chung-hee administration’s Yushin regime in October 1979.

Last Scene

Gukdo Art Cinema located in Daeyeon-dong, Busan is one of the most representative cinema in Busan for independent films and arthouse films along with Cinematheque Busan (currently moved to Busan Cinema Center) and Art Theater C+C. Gukdo opened in 2004 in Nampo-dong and moved to Daeyeon-dong in 2008 and has been a home for cinephiles in Busan and nearby areas for the last 10 years. The theater closed its operations on January 31st, 2018 after the building owner had refused to renew its contract. The last month of the theater is recorded in the movie Last Scene.
